Hauxton Community Hub - Cambs
"Connecting communities through sustainable civic design on designated Green Belt land. Cavaleri Partnership was commissioned to deliver the new Hauxton Community Hub—replacing an outdated village hall with a flexible, low-carbon civic facility featuring a perimeter colonnade, daylit library, and natural timber cladding tailored to its woodland setting."
Green Belt Planning & Community Master Planning
Replacing a legacy village hall unsuited to a expanding, diverse population requires balancing expanded public utility with sensitive environmental planning. Located on recreation grounds within designated Green Belt land, the project succeeded through a collaborative planning strategy with the Council and extensive public consultation with local residents.
The architecture prioritizes simplicity, spatial flexibility, and environmental harmony—orienting the structure to connect directly with the adjacent woodland setting, children's playground, and outdoor recreation areas.
