We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our ongoing Herne Bay architectural project. Transforming a vision into a living, breathing community is always a rewarding journey, and today, we are proud to share that the first two major phases of this development are officially complete and ready to welcome residents.

With the finishing touches applied, the Herne Bay site now features a state-of-the-art care home alongside a sprawling neighborhood of 50 purpose-built retirement bungalows.

A Modern Approach to Care

At the heart of the completed development is the new care home. From the initial blueprints, our goal was to move away from clinical, institutional layouts and instead design a space that feels fundamentally like a home.

The architecture maximizes natural light, integrates accessible green spaces, and uses warm, natural materials to create a calming environment. The layout is optimized not just for the comfort and dignity of the residents, but also for the operational efficiency of the dedicated staff who will work there.

Independent Living: The 50 Bungalows

Flanking the care home are 50 newly completed retirement bungalows. These homes were designed to bridge the gap between independent living and accessible support.

Key design elements of the bungalows include:

  • Single-story accessibility: Open-plan living spaces designed with zero-step entryways and wide corridors to future-proof the homes for aging in place.

  • Community integration: The site plan naturally encourages neighborly interaction, with shared pathways and landscaped communal gardens.

  • Contextual design: The exterior architecture pays homage to the local Herne Bay vernacular, ensuring the new development feels like a natural extension of the wider community.

Looking Ahead: Phase Three is Upcoming

While we are taking a moment to celebrate the completion of the care home and the bungalows, our focus is already shifting to the future.

The third phase of the Herne Bay project is currently in the late stages of planning and will be breaking ground soon. This next phase will further expand the community's footprint, introducing new amenities and residential options that complement the existing structures. We look forward to sharing the official renders and site plans for Phase Three in the coming months.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the completed spaces. Stay tuned to our blog for more updates on Phase Three and behind-the-scenes looks at our architectural process.
