St Faith`s School, STEM building - Cambridge

"A visionary architectural design proposal for future-focused science and technology learning. Cavaleri Partnership conceptualized an adaptable, light-filled STEM facility for St Faith’s School in Cambridge, engineered to unite robotics, practical engineering, and collaborative science within a biophilic structural envelope."

Reimagining Modern Educational Infrastructure

Delivering modern STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) curricula requires moving away from rigid, isolated classrooms toward fluid, multi-disciplinary learning ecosystems. Commissioned to develop a pioneering architectural proposal for St Faith’s School in Cambridge, Cavaleri Partnership crafted a state-of-the-art educational building concept.

The spatial scheme was designed to demonstrate how progressive spatial layouts, biophilic materials, and transparent learning zones can inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Architectural Innovations & Spatial Strategy

The proposed design framework centered on flexibility, natural light, and structural transparency:

  • Adaptable Workshop Labs: Fluid floor plates structured for rapid transitions between computing, robotics, mechanical testing, and chemistry.

  • Biophilic Daylighting Strategy: Soaring glulam timber roof arches and integrated sky lanterns engineered to flood internal spaces with natural light.

  • Visible Engineering Concept: Exposed structural connections, timber joinery, and building MEP systems designed to serve as passive, real-world teaching tools.

  • Sustainable Campus Integration: Conceptually targeted low-carbon operational performance, incorporating high-performance thermal envelopes and passive solar shading.

Specialized Design Leadership in Independent Education

This conceptual study exemplifies Cavaleri Partnership’s core competency in educational master planning, campus rationalization, and innovative STEM learning environment design.
